An Experience of Hemodialysis in Paraquat Poisoning

Abstract
|
|
|
Paraquat has been a widely used herbicide in korea oral cavity ulcer (87%), fever (78.3%), jaundice (34.8%) and epigastric tenderness (30.4%).
3) Except 6 cases treated by early hemodialysis and 3 cases in early death, abnormal renal function and liver function were observed in 14 cases.
4) All of the 7 cases who ingested more than 50 ml of 24.5% paraquat died and 10 cases of the 16 cases who ingested less than 50 ml are alive.
5) The mortality rate was 56.5% and the cause of death was acute respiratory failure, acute renal failure and perforation of esophagus, in decreasing order of frequency.
